Halal slaughter (dhabihah)
Concept
Meat is halal only from a permitted animal slaughtered the halal way.
The animal must be of a permitted species, alive and healthy, and slaughtered by a Muslim who mentions the name of Allah and cuts the throat. Ingredients alone cannot prove this, so meat and poultry always need a certificate that covers the slaughterhouse.
