What Does Haram Mean?
The term “Haram” comes from the Arabic word for “forbidden.” It represents anything that is explicitly prohibited by the Quran (Islamic holy book) or Hadith (sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him). Engaging in Haram activities is believed to incur disapproval from Allah (God) and can have spiritual consequences.
Examples of Haram:
- Consumption of Pork:
- Explanation: Pork and pork products are considered Haram in Islam. The Quran specifically prohibits the consumption of pork in several verses, such as Surah Al-Baqarah (2:173).
